Sustaining Membership Status |

ACUC Leaders who are approved for “Sustaining” Membership continue to maintain their ACUC Leadership certification and have access to the ACUC Private Members web site—www.acuc.org; however they are not required to carry Professional Liability Insurance. It is important to note that ACUC Leaders who are considered Sustaining may not supervise, train (directly or indirectly) or certify divers. To do so is considered an ACUC Standards and Ethics violation and the situation will be dealt with accordingly. Because Sustaining Members cannot conduct or assist on ACUC Programs their certification card may show an expired date on it. This expiry date is only for Teaching status and is not intended as an expiry date for diving abilities. An ACUC Leader may apply for Sustaining Membership status if they are not an Active members with any Recreational or Technical Dive Training Agency (i.e. PADI, AMCQ/CMAS, SSI, NAUI, TDI/SDI, etc.) and they have a medical or life issue that will not permit them to supervise, train or certify divers during the membership period. Sustaining Members must reapply for this status yearly and pay the applicable yearly membership dues. If during the membership year an ACUC Leader wishes to return to Active Teaching Status they are required to pay current Active Membership fee less the Sustaining Membership fee already paid. They must also provide ACUC with proof of Professional Liability Insurance coverage. If you have any questions regarding Sustaining Membership please contact acuchq@acuc.ca |
