Professional Registration General Information |
|
ACUC certified Divemasters and Instructors are issued a Leadership Level certification card upon successful completion of an ACUC Leadership Level program. Leadership Level certification cards may be presented at any time as proof of diving capability. The ability for an ACUC Leader to conduct or assist on any ACUC sanctioned training program depends on the Professional Registration or ACUC Teaching Membership status of the individual Leader.
All ACUC Leaders (Divemasters and all Instructor levels) are required to pay yearly Membership Fees in order to retain their ACUC Teaching Membership status. ACUC’s membership period runs from January 1st to December 31st each year.
Only ACUC Leaders who’s membership fees are up to date and who also retain Professional Liability Insurance, may contract or assist on ACUC Certification Programs in the level they are qualified to teach. Depending on their level they may supervise, train and/or certify ACUC divers. ACUC categorizes these Leaders as “Active Members”.
From time to time ACUC Leaders may have medical or life issues that restrict them from supervising or training divers. Upon approval from ACUC Head Office, these Leaders have the option of Sustaining their membership for the year. Sustaining Members retain their Leadership rating but may not supervise, train or certify divers until they become Active again. Although Sustaining Members are not required to carry Professional Liability Insurance it is available and recommended.
ACUC Leaders who do not maintain their yearly membership with ACUC automatically have their Leadership level certification suspended until their dues are paid up to date. Leaders who are suspended for non-payment of dues may not supervise, train or certify divers for ACUC.
If any ACUC certified Leader conducts or assists on an ACUC Certification Program and their membership with ACUC is not in “Active Teaching” status it is considered an ACUC Standards and Ethics violation and the matter will be promptly investigated by ACUC’s Standards and Ethics Committee.
